”STAGE” featuring Larry Dunn and Al McKay
On September 7th, 2018 ... on BRAZIL INDEPENDENCE DAY ... Legacy and Alchemy announced that “Stage” from the “Alexandra Jackson: Legacy & Alchemy” album was added to national iHeart Urban AC radio across their 26 Urban AC stations’ digital streams online.
THE ALBUM
The landmark “Alexandra Jackson: Legacy & Alchemy” double CD features appearances of icons and living legends, including the late Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Al Jarreau, Oscar Castro-Neves, Rod Temperton and Dona Ivone Lara, and Ivan Lins, Larry Dunn, Al McKay, Carlinhos Brown, Banda Black Rio, Hubert Laws, Siedah Garrett, Paulo Jobim, Daniel Jobim, Robertinho Silva, Teo Lima, Armando Marcal, Paulo Calasans, Arthur Maia, Larry Williams, Darryl Jones and Charles Floyd.
In support, Legacy and Alchemy also released the live concert video of "Stage" from Club France / French National Olympic House during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The video features Ms. Jackson performing with Brazil's best Jazz and MPB musicians, including Arthur Maia, Teo Lima and Paulo Calasans.
The multi-format success of the “Alexandra Jackson: Legacy & Alchemy” album is embodied with “Stage”, which is illustrative of what the iconic Brazilian songwriter/singer Ivan Lins refers to as “Total Music ... a blend of jazz, Brazilian, ethnic musics, instrumental, sung, completely modern."
“Stage” is both homage to the legacy of the great Brazilian icon Gilberto Gil, and to the legacy of Chicago Jazz / Charles Stepney / Earth, Wind & Fire. It is the first-time English rendition of the great Maestro Gil's 1981 Brazil classic "Palco," which was a homage to EWF! Then came “Stage” 37 years later. Armed with a Darryl Tookes English lyrical interpretation of “Palco" and recording in Rio de Janeiro, young Alexandra Jackson and EWF icons Larry Dunn and Al McKay turn to honor the great Gil.
